In the fire of 2011, a huge cedar tree was killed with only slight charring starting a few feet above the ground. In the spring of 2012, a spring wind storm blew it over and later that spring I came across it. It was down in a ravine and I couldn’t get any equipment there to save large pieces of it so I sliced off slabs or rounds with my chainsaw and carried them out, one at a time. I ended up with about 10 of these. After the fire of 2015, I decided to make something of them and here are the first results. Also, the fire of 2015 consumed the rest of the cedar tree that yielded these pieces. I counted rings and the tree was 100-105 years old. Some drought years didn’t leave much of a ring.
The largest top is 18 inches by 22 inches and they are all 17-18 inches tall. The tops are 3-4 inches thick.
